Organizations that
Show Art
The following organizations exhibit work by Bay Area artists in addition
to other services they provide. For other organizations, both national
and international, that offer networking, legal assistance and funding,
see our Art Links - Organizations page.
One of the best ways for
an emerging artist to show and sell his or her work is to join an art
organization, some of which have their own galleries. Other art organizations
rent or borrow spaces for shows. Still others will help you network. Many
of them are listed below, including some who do not advertise and are
discovered only through word of mouth.
Members generally need to pay a fee and/or volunteer time. This is a
tremendous opportunity to meet patrons, network with other artists, learn
how to hang a show and prepare your work, and sell work. But remember
that you get out of membership exactly as much as you put into it.
Because galleries frequently relocate
or close, you should always call before you send slides.
If you discover that a gallery is no longer in business, PLEASE let
us know.
