Next General Meetings

Saturday, April 7,  2001, Time: 12-2pm

Non-members -- visit us and see for yourself what we can do for each other. Bring a cold pot-luck and samples of your latest work.

Artist Lillian Wu will share her love of Chinese brush painting with us. She will show us how she adapts the style to silk painting and give us a chance to give it a try  for ourselves. Artists using any medium or style can benefit from a demonstration of this  ancient and beautiful style. Of all the kinds of painting on silk, Chinese brush painting seems very appropriate. Both the painting and the silk are free and soft and seem  suited to each other. Lillian is a landscape artist as well as being proficient in the art of Chinese Brush Painting on rice paper. You may have attended her recent show  at the Arts Council on Belmont. She is delighted to be able to come and share her talent with us.
BRING… Bring a piece of silk about 12 to 18 in. sq.. We have hoops and frames for  stretching. Also, if you have an OLD sumi brush, bring it. The chemical  water in the dye is not good for natural hair brushes.- they get fuzzy.

Members may also want to be thinking about what other types of demonstrations  you would like to have in the future. Do you want all artists? Or would  you like a session on marketing? on making clothing? On framing? Or even  on preserving the silks? Or different types of dyes? ....Suggestions would be appreciated. Give them to Edna at the meeting.

Non-member admission is free (unless there is a guest speaker).
