About Us

We are an organization of silk painters based in the Bay Area, who come together for mutual education, encouragement and inspiration, by meeting regularly to exchange ideas, view each others' work, demonstrate techniques, solve problems and generally "cross-fertilize" creative ideas.

We were originally brought together by a vital interest in putting silk painting and fiber art right up on the front lines of fine art, where it belongs. The art of painting on silk is growing in popularity and artists in all media are becoming more interested in it as a fine art and as a business.

Since 1997, NCSA has arranged six successful exhibits, in San Mateo, San Francisco and Marin. Two exhibits are in the works for 2001. In 1999, NCSA members participated in a textile arts conference in Washington D.C.
