Inspired by Nan Goldin

I am working on a photography project, towards my final M.A. I am looking at drag queens and transexuals. the photography of Nan Goldin has been a massive influence on my style. Let me know if you have heard of any other artists working with the same subject matter as me.

i started taking pictures because of nan goldins inspiration and have been closely following her career since 1987. have many posters from shows and a few invites but only have one copy of each so I have no extras to send. Once procured but have since lost a catalougue from her Cookie Mueller show in 1991. I guess this may not be of much help but just thought i touch base with someone else intrigued with her work. may have some avenues to get more posters and such if you are interested. good luck and maybe I'll hear from you Dan Monick, October 18, 1998

I am a freelance fashion/portrait photographer who is  currently completing my final year at Ryerson Polytechnic University in Toronto. I am currently researching the exhibits, works, and personal history of Nan Goldin. I find  her work both inspiring and unique, and i have been quite  amused by the information i have been able to find on the  artist, by searching various galleries' websites and through the library. Perhaps i find Nan's work most interesting for a couple of my own personal reasons. One, because i  gain inspiration and a personal sense of growth through the  self portraits I have produced over the past five years. My  face and the way others and myself view my image is  constantly changing as a result of a fatal car accident i  was in four years ago, that nearly destroyed my face. Since  then, close to ten reconstructive plastic surgeries has been  a big part of my life. I often try to display this emotional  stuggle for me through my self-portraits. Secondly, my  preference for colour photography is a big part of my own  work. Infact, the first thing that grabbed my attention the  first time i saw Nan Goldin's work was the dramatic lighting  and colour that she used.  It would be tremendously appreciated if i could be sent any  information on the artist, more specifically, articles and pamphlets outlining her past exhibits.
