East Bay Art School
Now Open! Try a Free Class!
For both children and adults. Do you want your child to become creative,
imaginative, and artistic? Do you have questions such as "Why does
my child paint the sun green?" and "Why does my child draw things
upside down?" You will find East Bay Art School's classes provide
vital help and useful instructions, as well as answers to these questions.
Our well-designed small classes encourage creativity and personal expression.
We provide instruction in the use of different materials, such as pencil,
crayon, watercolor, pen, pastel, and brush. We also provide techniques
for rendering images and introduce children to art history and culture.
For children ages five through nine, there will be instruction in more
than one process: drawing, sketching, painting, simple pattern designing,
and printmaking; and for children ages 10 to 15 there will be more in-depth
instruction in one or more of these processes and an optional introduction
to traditional Chinese painting techniques. Each process will be related
to the artwork of an artist, culture, style or time period. Art has a
tremendous role in general learning and has served as one way of developing
inquiring, flexible minds in children. Our classes are intended to be
fun as well as educational. If you would like to enroll your child, please
note the schedule and complete an application.

Creativity as the Key
Cynthia Brody, Marriage and Family Therapist/artist/writer and editor.
Creativity is like a key to our psyche and our spirituality, and it is up
to us to open the doors. When the door is opened, we find ourselves as well
as others on the other side. If we are born with the desire to create, that
becomes an imperative which must be acted upon. In my experience, both personally
and working with creative people as a therapist, if that creativity is not
acted upon people will begin to suffer in some real way. I think this can
happen through anxiety or depression or finding less effective ways to put
the energy to use. I also believe that our history is a part of ourselves,
and if we become familiar with it we will come to understand our lives.
It is at that point that the creative work can flow and be less of a struggle.
Group forming in Sausalito. Group and Individual Consultation
Individual sessions: day and evening appointments avail.

Barb Weismann's Discussion
List
It's for "idea people" to exchange about favorite business creativity techniques
(such as those used by Doug Hall, Higgins, Michalko, etc.) and whatever
else is of concern. One goal is to help each other legitimize this valuable
skill of idea generation to ourselves and others. Other topics might include
office politics surrounding new ideas, employment agreements that include
ownership of product ideas, and how to transition into a career using this
skill. create@scn.org
