"There will be no greater adventure in my life than
this journey.
I have begun to explore the sources of my divinity.
My art is
my kinetic recollections of that Creative Fire, images
of energy
and light representing my own connection with Source
at levels
I will never completely understand. The spark that
forged this
space has steadily grown into a flame that threatens
to engulf
everything "ordinary" in my life. I feel the distinctions
between
the ordinary and sacred moments melting away." --
jaxun, 1.23.97
Born in 1970, digital artist Jack Riggen, a long-time
resident of
Northern California, represents a new breed of emerging
artists
who have cut their creative teeth using a computer
as their
primary medium. With no significant artistic training
or
education (but plenty of computer savvy), jaxun began
"pushing
pixels" in 1993 using an IBM-compatible personal
computer
and a pressure-sensitive "graphics tablet."
As a computer graphics hobbyist, jaxun has continued
to publish
an exhibit of his 200+ works on the World Wide Web,
where
thousands of visitors have been able to peruse his
art since
1994. In mid-1997, jaxun began considering the pursuit
of a fine
art career, and has since been developing a
portfolio
representing a consistent body of unique abstract images
to
present to galleries and private collectors. Completion
of a fine
art degree and continued self-publication are among
jaxun's
immediate goals as an artist.
